STABLE BELT DESIGN

STABLE BELT DESIGN

The design for stable belt striping is set by the Regimental/Corps Dress Committees and finally approved by the Army Dress Committee. The colours and widths of stripe usually arise from a historic or technical aspect of the regiment/corps. With the large number of amalgamations and formations that have taken place, colours from the forming regiments have influenced the choices too. Sometimes the new regiment has reverted back to a single colour often with a reference to the old "facing colours" of one of the forming regiments. A good example of this is with the beige webbing for the Mercian Regiment (Cheshire, Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters and Staffordshire).
