I was at Aldershot the other week (2011) and saw someone wearing what I could have sworn was the Rhodesia Regiment stable belt. I have since discovered that the Royal Gurkha Rifles and the Rhodesia Regiment have the same stable belt. One could make a point that the red stripe in the RGR belt is thinner than the RR belt.
I remember seeing guys from RLI wearing their stable belts with the buckles almost at the back of their trousers and even crossing the straps over, so that the top strap would buckle into the bottom strap, and vice-versa, giving an 'x' look to the straps. I guess it was a way of having the cool, 'double rugged', apocalypse 'just-now', we-laugh-in-the-face-of-death thing that infected us.
