ROYAL ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS INFORMATION

ROYAL ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS

After being in 21SAR (V) for a short while my first Colonel said casually one day I was not wearing the SAS buckle? I replied I did not know I could wear the buckle. Subsequently as a collector I bought a Rhodesian buckle from a dealer and replaced the standard buckle with the SAS one. I chose the Rhodesian buckle as at the time the quality was better than the other SAS belt/buckles I saw.

I remember now that our RAF PJI at this time wore a SAS coloured webbing belt, but with the Pegasus Abn Forces buckle, I asked him what it meant. His reply was it was worn by the RAF PJI's attached to Army units as the Bde/Regt'l/Unit etc PJI. The buckle = Para, the belt = SAS.

Thanks for this contribution.
