From my recollections of living there (as a pad brat in the late '80s), your current vintage picture is of what we knew as the Lower Barracks near the old Fremlin's Brewery. Sadly, neither is there today. My dad's office was on the lower camp, and even in my time significant proportions of it were condemned as unsafe. It was eventually demolished to make way for a road some time after 1990, with the units previously housed there relocated to Invicta Park slightly further out of town. I believe (although I'm by no means certain) a single building survives as a pub. Certainly it's architecture is very similar to the old barracks.
