OTHER INFORMATION

I can tell you that no stable belt was, to the best of my research, mooted or trialed by the 1st Battalion Essex Regiment prior to amalgamation with the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment in 1958.

The Territorial Battalion, 4/5th Battalion Essex Regiment, adopted an ephemeral Pompadour purple and yellow belt (not to be confused with that of the Chaplains Department) c 1967 in its very last days before disbandment when a Platoon of WRAC was foisted (as they have it) on the Battalion. This lasted through the short existence of the successor unit, the Essex Regiment (Territorial).
