BELT COLOURS - blue, scarlet & blue |
This is a photograph of a rarely seen Everyman's Welfare Service stable belt. Although not a military its close association providing welfare services to Australian Defence Force personal, allies, families and veterans since 1940 has earnt it the right to wear a stable belt that is listed in the Australian Army 1979 Dress Manual.
This belt was worn by retired WO2 Tom Entwistle 311328 during his service with the EWS between 1989 to 1993.
In the 1950's Tom served in the British 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards in the BAOR. In 1960 he enlisted in the Australian Army and served with the 1st Armoured Regiment (including 12 months in Vietnam during 1969-70), Armoured Centre (School of Armour), and the 2/14th Queensland Mounted Infantry before retiring in 1986.
I have it on display at the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum.
