BELT COLOURS - red, black and white. This belt was used prior to 1995 |
The regimental belt of the 3rd Auckland and Northland Battalion Group is probably the first such belt to be adopted by a Territorial Force battalion. It was, at first, an unofficial belt but the Army Dress Committee finally approved it.
The prototype belt was made by an English manufacturer – ‘Manco’ located in Birkenhead. The Auckland and Northland decided that the belt’s colours should be the colours on the battalion flag – red, black, and white. The first 1000 belts were paid for by the unit private fund.
